It’s baaaaack! The Kentucky State Fair kicked off this morning with the Kentucky Commodity Group Appreciation Breakfast. During its 10-day stint last year, the fair delighted and entertained approximately 600,000 people!
Live music, yummy food (prepare for clogged arteries), fair rides and livestock for days occupy the expanse that is the Kentucky Exposition Center. You will want to make sure you look at the daily schedules – there is SO much to do! You may have to plan to visit several times during the 10-day festivities. For instance, today’s schedule shows non-stop events from 7am to 10:45pm. Most of the events are free, but there are some ticketed events, among them the one and only Reba McEntire tonight at 7:30pm (I believe her concert may now be sold out).
Typically, cost of admission is $10 for adults, seniors and children; free for children 5 years and younger. Parking at the gate is $8 per vehicle, but there is free parking available on weekends at select lots. You will want to make sure you keep an eye for promotion days. One of my favorite promos is “Carload Day”, where you only pay $20 for an entire vehicle (check out the other promos by clicking here).
Visit the Kentucky Fair website here and view the daily schedules here. Loosen your belts, put on your walking shoes and HAVE FUN!
