Pre-qualification, pre-approval….it’s all so confusing when you’re trying to purchase a home. What do you need to do before you begin touring homes? What is the process? If you’re “just looking”, what’s the point of getting pre-qualified or pre-approved?
Well, the truth is, most home sellers require anyone who tours their home to be pre-approved. When I first heard this, I thought it was a little extreme. Until I started thinking like a seller. If put my home on the market, I would hope that anyone who toured it would be ready, willing and able to perform if they loved it. After all, what’s the point of packing up my dogs (and my husband) and leaving for an hour (or two) if the people who are seeing my home can’t even buy it?
Take a look at the visual below to see some general information about the Home Loan Process. If you are thinking you may want to purchase property in the near future, our suggestions would be to 1) Contact a Real Estate professional (obviously, that’s going to be a member of The Paxton Group!) 2) If you haven’t been pre-approved, your realtor can point you in the right direction. We know many local lenders who are absolutely fantastic at what they do and we can get you in touch with them 3) Get pre-approved and start looking at homes!
